The Workers Education Association are a fantastic charity, established in 1903.
Currently the largest voluntary sector provider of adult education in England and Scotland, they are dedicated to bringing high-quality, professional education into the heart of communities. 3 Dimensional Mosaics

The main aim for this course is for you to build your mosaic confidence and advance your practice —whether that is with new methods, enhancing your designs, or greater intricacy. You will be encouraged to undertake independent research, plan and design your own projects and calculate the costs. You will study the work of local and international contemporary mosaic artists learning from their techniques and processes as well as their designs.

Develop Your Mosaic Skills

Mosaic is a versatile artform. It can be applied to three dimensional substrates giving colour, pattern and added structure to functional and decorative pieces. This course gives you the opportunity to apply your mosaic knowledge onto 3D surfaces. Starting with ready-made or found items such as plant pots, you will also learn how to make undulating substrates, as well as create or sculpt your own as a base for your mosaic.

Mosaics Using Found Materials

During this practical course you will be collecting found materials and discarded objects and transforming them into unique works of mosaic art. You will explore the origins of Pique-Assiette, a style of mosaic art using broken china and found tesserae and learn how contemporary artists have developed this style. You will discover how the potential of materials such as glass and mirror can become the foundation of beautiful creative projects. From abstract art pieces to frames, lamp bases, and garden decorations, you will have the opportunity to reimagine and repurpose these materials in your mosaic creations.
